Would this motor work for the shredder and/or shredder pro? Been bouncing back and forth between webpages on my cell phone and starting to go cross eyed. Figured someone on here would be able to tell pretty quickly. Thanks. https://www.weg.net/catalog/weg/US/en/Electric-Motors/AC-Motors---NEMA/General-Purpose-/TEFC-Cast-Iron/W22/W22-/W22-NEMA-Premium-Efficiency-2-HP-4P-143-5T-3Ph-230-460-380-V-60-50-Hz-IC411---TEFC---Foot-mounted/p/11416577

anything over 1.5 HP

with a 56c flang

if you dont have a 220V outlet then get a crane motor than can lift 660 lb to 1320 lb max

You should try and find a motor that's mounted directly to a gearbox. If you're stuck on this style, you're going to have to figure out a pulley gear system to reduce the rpms down to appropriate speeds. The shredder pro is larger and will likely need more power than this one.

note hoist motors overheat easily as they lack a good cooling fan. they are the fast fashion of the tool world. you will need to do one of three things: 1, add in a thermal protection switch. some have it some do not, it will vary even among same brand. it is a low cost part. 2 add in a aux cooling fan, a 4 inch inline exhaust fan mounted to suppliment the cooling fan will assist. While I have not used it on a hoist motor yet, I have the same motor powering my log splitter with a fan. 3, only run it 15 min or less and keep a ir thermometer gun to check temps. generally we have found overheating after 15-20 min without load. We only advertise our shredder powered by this motor as light duty and suitable for injection molding shops that will use max of 100kg per month, small office that want to shred plastic, cardboard, packaging materials, paper etc. For a more robust machine we use a 3hp industrial motor and speed reduction via belt pulley/chain sprocket as we are unable to find a durable reliable gearbox locally. We have seen a unit that reduces speed for a cement mixer or hand tractor, but the seller seems sketchy so we never purchased it. the worm gearbox we used initially 5 years ago, but we had issues with bending the shafting, and leaking oil seals which cost as much to repair as it was to replace the unit. One day when budget allows I need to make a laser-cut steel gearbox that is directly attached to the v3 shredder.

Do you already have a design in mind for that gearbox? How primitive is it? Something that could be produced with any having the capacity to fabricate the rest of the shredder?

A shredder pro would need a 3kw motor

laser cut gears and extend the side plate to hold additional flange bearings.
