even if 0.03mm seems overkill (if the overkill was concerning that spec) the pallet wrap i use is 17 to 20 microns which would bee 0.0017 or 0.0020cm; depending on the numbers of layers formed by the pallet wrap, i'm still afraid it could manage to get through the blades, what are your thoughts ?

try melting some of those (catering single use containers suited for microwave) you'll very quickly observe 2 distinct phases; which will be the polymer PP and the additive(s) used for the PP to resist the heat-constraint due to the micro-wave

For sure, between my blades there are space for 2layers of wrap

another example i experienced was with plastic containers which had had some bleach or some different aggressive products, the plastic literally burnt without getting to the "melting" phase (edited)

I made just a short try with LLDPE wrap, but hat I found is that it shred without problems. However, in the meantime I had problems with the static blades (I made a not enough precise way to fix them in place), after that I send the parts to the nitriding factory, after that I had hard times with my dog (It died probably from cancer), and in the meantime I started to make the compression molding system, so the shredder development has stopped since then.

I never found those containers made from PP here in Italy, only PET. But I think they aren't made for microwave oven...

also, if ever you are curious; @Butte (PP Philippines) uses a pelletizer to process "film" plastic before using in the extruder

I have plenty of them here at home, my girlfriend uses them to freeze homemade pasta sauces

But as you can see it is made from PET 1

hu, interesting to see the difference of country habits with different polymers we also have those in PET but they are only sold in big grocery stores to sell pastries or cakes or catering food (edited)

Yes, I found the differencies interesting
8:55 PM
Even about colors
8:56 PM
For example, if you watched the Brothers make video about the hdpe/resin lamp, they complained about the scarcity of gold plastic in their area. Here I can find a lot, HDPE and PP
8:58 PM
apart from transparent polypropylene and blue / light blue polyethylene, which are the colors I find most available, gold and silver are the ones I have the most stocks!

hehe interesting; another big bad example i can share was with single use cuttlery (knifes and forks) i had found a batch of shiny dark colored ones (not used from an event of my clients at work) and what a surprise !!!! the coloring of the products wasn't done with regular coloring additives, but they were spray painted !!!!
