Hey Jack! So cool to hear about your vision and passion My wife and I have a similar desire to do/join something in South Africa, although we're still in the early stages of learning stuff and finding people with similar visions*.
I work remotely, and our vision for economic sustainability would be for me to work remotely and cover any bond costs, unless we found enough people willing to split the cost of the land/a sponsor willing to donate the land or the cost of it
Would be interested to know where you're thinking of getting land - still looking in Aus with a different view on the financial viability, or starting to look in other countries like Project Kamp did?
Peace!
Duncan
*and still figuring out how to articulate our vision - its an intersection of living sustainably, regenerating desertified land, trying to transfer land ownership as a form of restitution, and do
everything as part of a community of people also excited about at least some elements of that stuff (edited) I'm so glad to hear there are others that haven't had their dreams dwindle! I am looking in portugal, everything that I want in land is there and affordable for myself and my partner, I can continue my job whilst building the dream and affording to build a sustainable community and meeting point for friends family and community.
I am looking at funding this independently initially as it has been my personal goal for a long while, I may look at introducing sponsors, and would definitely be interested in inviting people onto to share the land especially those looking to improve for the future, ecologically, drought and fire preparations.
Long term goal is a virtually self sustainable community with an extra focus on personal and spiritual growth through a personal connection with nature devoid of as many structures and limitations as possible.
Long long-term goal is then the ability to create small form versions of these self-sustainable food communities in densely populated areas all over the globe to reduce the strain on economies and get good food accessible to everyone
