I'm happy to test and show some receipts to the team about this. I recently worked with a client that had a differential of ~$50 based on when they started the transaction and when it actually processed.

How long was that delay? That’s either a big transaction or a really big rate jump. I’ll look into how this is doable - seeing as your integrated stripe / PayPal account would be in USD, I don’t see why it wouldn’t be possible… but depends on the limitations of the platform in the end 🤷🏼‍♂️ Thanks for bringing it to our attention!

@Taylor thinking here but could it be possible & easy to add a block next to the price where is it listed "currency viewer only". Or should we remove this currency viewer option all in all if any way this is not the price that will be paid by the client ?

@CitSciWorkshop what would you recommend ? Removing the currency viewer option or adding a message that this is not 100% the price they will pay or other suggetion ?

It was a machine and over the course of a couple days. @Sigolene I think displaying a disclaimer would also be helpful. If there is a way to let a buyer select the currency to process with that could eliminate the conversion issue when the processing time might create a difference.

Ok so I've had a good play with currencies - and it actually works better than I expected, but is not without it's quirks! 1. I've increased the interval that the rates sync with current market rates, which will help alot. When I looked one of the currencies was out by 0.05 between it's updates - which can be ALOT on a large transaction 2. I've added AUD as an option, and then selected it through my vendor account stripe integration. I then made a test transaction and (one with stripe set to USD, and one with stripe set to AUD. It worked as expected - and all I had to do to allow my stripe account to be in AUD was to add it to CS-Cart - easy.

This is what a €1 transaction looked like (as a customer) with my stripe account set to USD and then set to AUD.
3:28 AM
So what this means... if I want to sell product in AUD, I need to 1. List product in Euro (only option) 2. Set stripe account to AUD 3. Hope customer uses the dropdown to view all products in AUD The rate will now sync as the displayed price (When viewing products in AUD for example) comes from stripe. So upon checkout the displayed rate will match the converted rate It would be preferable to allow Vendor's to configure their own default currency, however that's a discussion on migrating to another Stripe Integration.

Paypal are the devil, however I'm assuming this works perfectly on their end as well - however there might be slight rate differences as the market rate comes from Stripe (As far as I can tell that is)
3:31 AM
So CitSci - back to your issue, as long as your stripe integration is set to USD you will be charging customers in USD

Check your currency here

and @Sigolene if you feel any other currencies should be added, let me know. I'll work on a prompt for new customers to select their local currency to bring it all together
3:35 AM
And @CitSciWorkshop if the customer selects USD and you've configured USD, the prices will match at time of payment. The only annoying things are 1. You need to list products in Euro 2. Your customers need to select USD
3:38 AM
And @Sigolene @Mattia my suggestion would be the following extension to offer automatic currency selection - so customers default to seeing product in their local currency. (Looks like it's IP based not Geo based, so there wont be an additional "allow location access" popup) https://marketplace.cs-cart.com/cs-cart-geo-location.html
Geo-location addon allows detecting users’ location/country according to users’ IP-Address and setting your store language and currency according to the user’s location. The addon provides functionality to set store language and currency according to t

This is all amazing, thanks showing your hard work and research. I'll test this out this week. Maybe there is a glimmer of hope toward listing in local currencies as well.
