Hello, I am a student living in Myanmar, Yangon(I am not from there though, I'm from South Korea), and I am considering to contribute to the precious plastic community by starting a shredder workplace(and if all goes well a mixed workplace, although I doubt it). Currently there are no other precious plastic workshops/centers at all in Myanmar. I am reaching out to seek help and your advice on the machinery and on the aspects on starting a workshop. (edited)

Hi, just a question for product makers: which type of plastic pellets do you use most? As in the type of plastic.

Ben - Precious Plastic Ciledug 1/7/2021 8:53 AM
Possible but you'll need a suitable surface for mounting the equipment on and also need to make sure everything is aligned properly. I think finding someone who can weld what you need shouldn't be too difficult to find. Try asking a local for some help for finding a person who can weld what you need. The more difficult part to make is the blades and shredder box since they're often laser cut. Can use a water jet cutter too.

Welding for the shredder is very basic. The shredder box is more difficult due to requiring more precise cuts. The electrical motor and electronics should be available. Perhaps there's a market for machineries somewhere over there. Dont feel too discouraged. An alternative would be to try and find locally available plastic shredding machines. You're not stuck with using precious plastic machines, however support might be a little more difficult to find. People will always try and help you find a solution on here though.

Hi there. For Lombok? There's some activity in Lombok already by Plastik Kembali and Daur Project. You can find them on Instagram, if you cant find them let me know. Upkeep of the machines? This is a difficult number to quantify. If you have hired help that are handy with machines, the shredder should not have any problems unless it was built incorrectly. It'll only need to be sharpened every once in a while. I havent sharpened my blades and it's something like 3 years old now. Extrusion machine? I haven't had any issues. If i were to set a budget for maintenance per year, somewhere between 5 million-10 million rupiah ($350-$700usd) should be more than enough. This should cover most costs if something breaks like an electric motor, the hex bar for the shredder, heaters, some electronics, etc. For the last year, i've spent about rp250,000 ($17.50usd) on my shredder due to some electrical component failure. I hope this helps!

hello, Im from Kuala Lumpur... sandakan trades in RM. You should contact sea monkey project, biji-biji initiative or Precious Plastic Malaysia on their website, they sell both machines and moulds in Malaysia. I believe that moulds will vary in prices depending on how the seller makes the mould... max price could reach RM 1.5k, min could be a few hundreds... For machines, it varies with different supplier and the type of machine you request for. Could go up to RM 20K (estimation). Hope this helps ๐Ÿ™‚

After 4 years of studying International Relations, I couldn't stop thinking that I was moving in the wrong direction. It has been a year since my graduation and it is almost a year now since I am a Sustainable Development Master student in Sweden, Uppsala. Just recently, I started sharing my experience on Instagram @gr.eenko. It doesn't matter where you get the machine from so long as it works and suits your needs. It's been a while since i've been in contact with MakerBay but you should check them out. They might be able to help guide you to some degree. https://makerbay.net/ Issues you'll need to solve: 1. Where to source plastic from 2. Finding a suitable location in Hong Kong for operations 3. What products to make Having a shredder is a great start but you'll quickly need to figure out what to do with it. I don't like shredding and making stuff for the sake of shredding and making stuff....there has to be some sort of positive impact you should be aiming for, maybe awareness or you're working with plastic taken from the sea .

Nice! Love makerbay and what they have going on. 300kg a month... with my shredder it would take a very long time to shred that. For shredding down to a size good enough for my extrusion machine, my rate is about 2kg an hour. I have the shredder v3 i think, not the shredder pro version. So as you can imagine, it's a long and tedious process if i have a lot of plastic to shred.

It's going to vary a bit due to steel costs from country to country. In Indonesia you can buy the cutting box (box with blades) for about $380usd. In Vietnam you should try contacting these guys, they might be able to help you. https://www.facebook.com/drplasticVN/ In Cambodia, try ARC Hub, they did something crazy a while back which was build a shredder box from aluminum, but it didnt work. https://www.fablabs.io/labs/archubpnh If you have trouble contacting them, let me know and i'll give it a try. It's going to vary a bit due to steel costs from country to country. In Indonesia you can buy the cutting box (box with blades) for about $380usd. Hi all! This summer, I would love to do volunteer work at a recycling space/workshop. I've already contacted a start-up nearby (The Hague, NL). However, they are still setting up so Iโ€™m not sure I can work there this summer. So if you need a helping hand this summer (Europe only) or maybe in the summer of 2022 (Worldwide) donโ€™t hesitate to send me a message! Depending on the location of your workspace I ask for a residence or shredded plastics in return. Kind regards, Cathelijne

There's two problems that I am reading from what you've shared. 1. There's a lack of education on proper waste management. 2. There's no capacity to properly handle waste management. How do you solve this problem? The easiest answer is, Remove all humans from Earth. Next would be, teach the youth in schools about putting garbage and recyclables in the correct place. Have community campaigns in different kelurahan/sub-districts. Try to engage the RT as well and help create a better waste management system since the current one is broken. Capactiy for handling all the waste is not something you can handle by yourself. You'll need the help of your local government and DINAS. Alternatively, you might be able to create your own waste company and manage waste better than how it currently is through current government operations. That's what I think would help considerably. I still see people of all ages throwing garbage everywhere. Where humans are, there is trash. My driveway is long, i only drive on it but yet neighborhood kids walk on it and play on it and leave their garbage EVERYWHERE. it's crazy.

For shredder/extrusion, make sure you do a really good job painting all exposed non-stainless steel surfaces. Shredder blades/cutting box should all be made from stainless steel. Extrusion machine barrel and hopper should be stainless steel, you can have the screw be stainless steel too. The frame will likely be mild steel so you'll need to prepare the surface and put a good coat of paint on it. Be careful with all the exposed nuts and bolts as they can and will rust. Stainless steel hardware (nuts/bolts) can work but stainless steel cannot be heat treated so its not as strong as other hardware. Zinc chromate primer can be used or some other to help reduce rust/corrosion/organic growth. It's a bit toxic so if you go this route, put a coat of some other paint on top. Make sure to check your machines as they age. Keep up on maintenance and do deal with rusting issues before they get really bad.

Ben - Precious Plastic Ciledug 10/28/2021 3:52 PM
I'm not sure if you've had an answer to this yet. If I'm not mistaken, there's already filament extruders available. The precious plastic extrusion works okay for most things but there's a design issue with the machine that allows air bubbles to flow through the whole machine and cause problems for filament making. Bubbles can be simply trapped air or some form of contamination (water, oil, ink, sugar, anything not plastic) that releases gas when it heats up. A fix for this would be a design change in the screw and barrel that would have a section that would allow for air to escape so you'd have fewer problems. Disposable face masks are mostly made from polypropylene (PP). I have not tried to extrude PP into filament, only HDPE. But, I've heard of people extruding PP into filament. It's just quite difficult to get the diameter dialed in perfectly if you want to use it for 3d printing. There's always going to be some variance in the size and 3d printers don't do well with loose tolerances.
3:53 PM
Quick answer : yes it's possible. It gets more complicated depending on the results you need.
Avatar
also another thing to remember is IIRC nowadays theres some open source thingie that live measures the filament and adjusts the print/model
3:57 PM
this is also there are an addition to one of the filament extruders, but i cant remember which

Thanks! Instagram definitely has it's limits. I wish workspaces here would at least tag SOME of their posts with #preciousplasticindonesia so that it would be much easier to find the various workspaces and see what they're up to. But really, I just want everyone here to have a successful workspace and have access to other people/networks that might be helpful in some way. I'm not sure what would be an alternative to Instagram here. Facebook feels overwhelming to set up a page and start making detailed posts. I wouldnt be opposed to having a workspace profile page hosted on my site, but going beyond that might be a bit too burdensome.

Hello, my name is Jhonatan Pรฉrez, I greet you from Venezuela. I am 28 years old, this November 28 I turn 29 years old, I was born on November 28, 1992. I am married, my wife is called Nohemรญ Glod and she is 25 years old, she is pregnant with two beautiful girls who with God's favor will be born this December, We are very excited about the birth of our girls but also very concerned. Here in Venezuela the social, economic, health and food situation is very complex because of the dictatorship that governs us and because of the false collaborationist opposition that keeps them in power, leaving us, the citizens, the people, to suffer more and more. every day for the mismanagement of our nation. The environmental problems of our nation are not the exception, our environment also suffers greatly from the lack of serious public policies against pollution, coupled with the fact that the government promotes mining in our Amazon rainforest and pollutes our rivers with mercury and other heavy metals. From our possibilities every day we fight to improve our environment doing everything we can, especially selecting our waste correctly, polluting as little as possible and recycling everything that can be done, however, the economic situation of my family does not help us, making our task It becomes increasingly difficult, especially now that our girls are going to be born and we honestly do not have all the resources to be able to maintain them. We work hard every day, all day, but right now I am going through bronchopneumonia that does not allow me to work and my wife has a very advanced pregnancy and she is at high risk, so she cannot work either. I have been resting for two weeks and undergoing treatment, thank God I am improving and I hope to be able to go back to work soon, so that I can continue to raise money for my girls who are about to be born.

I would like to ask you if there is a possibility that you can help me financially to be able to make an EXTRUSION MACHINE PRO machine to be able to work making plastic profiles, since with this machine I could work independently and could support my family in a dignified way. I only ask for the PRO EXTRUSION MACHINE because here there are people who recycle and grind plastic from whom you can buy it, to be able to use it with the machine and make profiles that will be offered mainly to rural agricultural communities to replace the poles they use to their fences, thus preventing them from cutting down trees to make these wooden posts. That is one of the objectives, we also plan to use these wooden profiles to build "paved" roads and highways with these profiles, among other projects we have in mind. I remain at your entire disposal, grateful for any response you can give me. Jhonatan Perez jhpp1992@gmail.com +584121490300

Ben - Precious Plastic Ciledug 12/17/2021 12:27 PM
Hi Maricris. Welcome to the one army precious plastic discord. Let me answer your questions. I am fine. Hello. Yes.

Asia is a big place, where are you located? What is a junk shop?

I have a 2800+sqm rice field and our house is at least 500sqm big but it seems like theyโ€™re both not feasible as locations for a junk shop. The rice field will require a lot of money for the soil to cover and flatten it to make it able to sustain construction. My rice field is near an alley road accessible to tricycles but the road is not connected to it yet. The road has yet to be extended to connect to my land. Our house has enough space to accommodate a considerable amount of materials but my family is situated in the town center which means the neighbors might complain if we build a junk shop here. Also, I donโ€™t think I can get a permit if I file to build it at home. I have some savings to pay for labor and buy recyclables from the people here. My problem is Iโ€™m not educated enough in what to do. I also donโ€™t have a proper location yet.

Hi there , I'm Ken Jin and I'm from Malaysia. I've been a fan for a few years and I'm embarking on a recycling project that focuses on soft plastics because my country has yet to fully ban single-use plastic bags (let alone enforce it properly). I remember plastic bag fusing was quite popular 3-4 years ago but I've yet to find any press or content on any current developments of projects and potential pitfalls of fusing plastic bags with heat (and its scalability) and also the environment concern of turning plastic bags into every day items like wallets/hats/bags. Currently, I'm manually fusing 8ftx4ft sheets that are about 1mm thick and I'm in love with how much you can do with it by treating it like fabric. Just sharing this here because I think plastic bags are a very asian problem but yeah, let me know if anyone here can point me to some people who have done things along this line. Cheers! (edited)

For the moment, we do everything ourselves. We're fortunate to have a lot of communities on facebook who clean and keep their used plastic bags and look out for others who might want to re-use them so we get used plastic quite regularly. You can search up online on how to fuse plastic but I just decided to make them a lot more bigger. If you have a sewing machine, you can search up patterns online and cut them accordingly. I treat different layers of fused plastic according to what I want to make. 2-3 layered sheets are like thin cloth material for raincoats. 4-5 layered sheets are like thicker cloth for bags, hats 6-7 becomes almost leather-like which can be done for wallets. I think it's also good to identify what kind of plastics you're using. I found matching layers with similar plastics to create more even results. Make sure to separate thin LDPE takeaway plastics or thicker MDPE garbage bags into their own layers. I found HDPE bags to be hardest to melt down so I usually kept those separately

Salam dari Tangerang :) Usually I use my shopvac and connect the hose to the exhaust and use it to blow out plastic. There's usually some bits that end up getting stuck. If it's not coming out when you're reversing or it's stuck on a static blade, you should be able to pry it out with a small flat tip screwdriver. Sometimes people struggle with the filter. Mine doesn't come out very easily but the holes are large and I don't mind small color contamination that I can just pick out later.

A friend of mine calls camping "pretending to be homeless". But with the right resources, i think it can be nice, but the question is... how would Project Kamp be financially viable without Youtube ads and Patreon supporters? It's really difficult to be off-grid, isolated, and self sufficient. So that means they need to have some sort of economic activity to help fund the lifestyle.

1:53 AM
We have some upcoming projects that will require us to hire 2 more person this week. We also need to build a new office space, and use the current office for a dedicated injection mold workshop. 3 new pneumatic injection molders are under construction, awaiting parts from China.
1:54 AM
Also shipped out another shredder 5hp on the boat.
1:55 AM
1:56 AM
We are very limited in shop space now. Finding a new shop space near my home to reduce the commute is difficult.
2:00 AM
We need to have a dedicated extrusion line, shredding section with vacuum collection and storage of the shred in barrels, and a dedicated injection space. As of right now we have a fabrication shop, well equipped, 2 MIG welders, 1 stick welder, and all the tools we need. Office for 2, which will be re-used for injection and probably a small 8x8 foot portable building made from PP beams as both a demonstration and because I need a office more sound-proof. As machine sales have slowed a lot, we are increasing plastic production and taking on these types of projects.
2:03 AM
We are also streamlining the plastic shredding to go to a 2 stage system. 2 shaft shredder for initial shred of big plastic, and then feeding thru the granulator shredder for the final 6mm flake, that is then collected via vacuum, sent to a cyclonic filter and then to fill 55 gallon steel barrels. Would love to have a dedicated tank for storage of all our shred, but not affordable at this time. We are also purchasing large washed flake from other recyclers that we re-process now.

imo, Project Kamp isnโ€™t ready to raise any animals yet. consider food source, knowledge of care & medical needs(if any). though chickens may be able to take care of kitchen scraps. they can probably start with building compost piles since theyโ€™re clearing the forest areas anyway. the main needed items is an airy/breathable structure to keep the pile in one place, some kind of cover to slow down evaporation and someone should water it once in a while just to prevent it from drying out while encouraging microbes that decompose the woody/leafy materials to live there. not sure how long it will take, but this may eventually help against their forest fire problem. also, they seem too shorthanded & really busy so i donโ€™t think they have someone to manage a regenerative agriculture/farming aspect to address their food needs/situation.

Weโ€™ve got an interesting weekend experience this Saturday Sept 17 - international coastal clean up day! To us this is more than a clean up - itโ€™s a chance to learn about the circular economy and ecosystems. This years ICC features a ridge to reef story, and the circular economy. We want people to understand that cleaning up is one action we need to do to correct the mistakes of humanity. In the morning: We will show that cleaning up leads to recycling and the circular economy, which we hope to build together In the afternoon we head over to the thick woodland area to forest bathe, forage for food and sip different varieties of organic herbal tea whilst experiencing the culture and cuisine of the Aetas. While enjoying the clean air and good food we will learn about our forest and upland ecosystem, and how it supports us, our communities and the lowland areas. Participants will see how ridge and reef connects to the story of our coastal waste. What will happen: 7am clean up Learn about circular economy Talk on sustainability on a personal and organizational level 12nn lunch 2pm forest and folklore tour by mad travel 3pm herbal teas freshly foraged and served with heavy snack PM us if you want to get information on the day package! #travel #education #sustainability #waste

Do you understand the difference between the two? A granulator is like a shredder. It only chops material up into smaller pieces. An extruder only pushes out melted plastic. A pelletizer is usually is an extrusion machine with several attachments to cool down extruded plastic and pull them to a machine that cuts the filament into pellets. That's how I understand it

For swimwear? What sort of product do you have in mind? I mean, I haven't heard of anyone creating swimware or fabric from plastic using precious plastic machines.

would have to be a textile company I think which takes the shredded plastic and turns it into fabric. not sure where...

Ah, you're talking about polyester. PET can be turned into polyester fabric and then that gets turned into clothing. I've never seen polyester clothing get recycled into anything so....careful with your idea ๐Ÿ™‚

Hi everybody, and especially Indonesian friends ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ฉ ! We are currently launching a workspace project inside a container, including a Sheet press, shredders and an extruder. I am working from France but this container will be sent to indonesia. That's why I have a few question: do you think that a 40-ft container could be transported on the indonesian roads, or would it be better to use 2 20-ft containers? And is it easy to find three-phase (230V) electricity supply or should I use a generator? Thanks so much

Salam Kenal Maxime! I have some information for you but feel free to message me directly if you like. Shipping containers: Depends on where you are shipping to. Even within a big city like Jakarta or Tangerang, you'll find many roads unsuitable for cargo containers. Try contacting me or whoever you're wanting to send to so it can be figured out before it becomes a big issue. Alternatively you can unload to smaller trucks that can manouver much better, unless the container is part of what you're wanting to use in a workspace. Electricty: 3 phase is typically easy to get installed. Depending on your electrical needs and location it might cost around โ‚ฌ1000 for the installation. Power is 50hz and voltage is somewhere between 200-220v and each phase will have a different voltage... In my case... L1 = 200v L2 = 209v L3 = 218v But varies... Just keep this in mind. So far it's ok for my shredder pro, other workspaces use sheet presses and likely have a similar condition.

Hello, I hope this is the right channel to ask. I was part of the PP V4 team and am currently working in the Maldives. We purchased our sheet press in India, and it was build differently than the V4 sheet press plans suggest. The cables and connectors keep breaking and we can not buy heat resistant cables here in the Maldives. An order has been placed but already takes 3 weeks and we don't know when to expect it. Does any one know of a possibility to get heat resistant cables and connectors in the Maldives?

Hey Batman, I can't say for certain. Generally it's best to stick to the plans unless you have experience with things not working like you want. 40mm ID barrel should work, but it might take a little longer to melt and there's a chance you might need to apply more force to the lever to have it inject properly. Do you want the larger diameter so you can do larger injections?

Ben - Precious Plastic Ciledug 2/12/2023 1:46 AM
Woohoo! There's two types of HDPE that you come across. Injection - most often it's bottlecaps. This plastic melts easier and less viscous than blow. Blow - usually found as bottles for shampoo or chemicals. This plastic is thicker and air is blown into the extruded plastic to "blow" the plastic into a mould. This doesn't melt down as well and many people often struggle when trying to work with it. I suggest if you are just shredding and then selling the material, you need to be sure to keep them separated. If you want to use them, do try and see what happens "for science"/as a learning experience. I would avoid using them in an extrusion machine unless you mix with HDPE or even LDPE to greatly reduce the viscosity. All depends on what you are trying to produce.

We were going to mix the (tetra pack) bottle tops with no.2 HDPE, but perhaps it would be best to keep them separate for now!

Hi Abhishek! I'm not sure. I can ask ask around, but I think HDPE or PP are likely the majority of plastics you will find and also be suitable to work with. What is your objective exactly? What do you want to produce? Or do you just want to make something with as much plastic as possible?

It helps if you create a workspace and focus on one thing/machine. Injection machine does not have the capacity to process a high volume of plastic, but the sheet press can do something like 14kg/hour and the extrusion machine is roughly the same (different variables due to material and what's being produced). Sheets you can sell as is or turn into furniture or other works. Extrusion machine allows you to produce plastic lumber, bricks, and some interesting extruded products. Some products require more finishing than others (sanding) and it can be time consuming, so take this into consideration for whatever product you are considering to produce.

Wow! That's an old video! I think most people don't use the wood drills, but if you want to there isn't much stopping you. If you're going with that design, then you just need to match the drill with the pipe. Figure out what the inside diameter of your pipes are and find a matching wood drill.

Ben - Precious Plastic Ciledug 3/26/2023 6:59 AM
What kind of residue? Extrusion/Injection/shredder can have issues with metal shavings. When metal parts rub against eachother, they will create some contamination. Extrusion and Injection can have other contamination that may be caused by over heating the plastic or simply the plastic being used has some contamination mixed in. If your problems with extrusion are other colors being mixed in and not small dark specks, then you will have to run the desired plastic through until it's the appropriate color. I have discovered that extruding white is quite difficult as it always picks up other colors and you'll have to extrude a considerable amount of material. If you can extrude planks or bricks and the color doesn't matter, it's a good way to transition.

wow thats exactly what I am facing right now, unfortunately I am extruding small parts, hence color contamination matters. Is flushing it down with new material the only option?

You can remove the extrusion screw from the barrel and clean off the screw, but I think it might be difficult to remove anything that may be stuck to the barrel. I'm not sure which issue you're struggling with (color or specks or both). If you take the extrusion screw out, you can inspect for areas that may be rubbing and causing issues.

scam, it makes nitrogen dioxide, not nitric oxide. Nitric oxic immediately cools down to make Nitrogen dioxide. which then immediately reacts with water to make nitric acid. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Birkelandโ€“Eyde_process This is not a medical device. An electrical arc was formed between two coaxial water-cooled copper tube electrodes powered by a high voltage alternating current of 5 kV at 50 Hz. A strong static magnetic field generated by a nearby electromagnet spreads the arc into a thin disc by the Lorentz force. This setup is based on an experiment by Julius Plรผcker who in 1861 showed how to create a disc of sparks by placing the ends of a U-shaped electromagnet around a spark gap so that the gap between them was perpendicular to the gap between the electrodes, and which was later replicated similarly by Walther Nernst and others.[8][9] The plasma temperature in the disc was in excess of 3000 ยฐC. Air was blown through this arc, causing some of the nitrogen to react with oxygen forming nitric oxide. By carefully controlling the energy of the arc and the velocity of the air stream, yields of up to approximately 4โ€“5% nitric oxide were obtained at 3000 ยฐC and less at lower temperatures.[10][11] The process is extremely energy intensive. Birkeland used a nearby hydroelectric power station for the electricity as this process demanded about 15 MWh per ton of nitric acid, yielding approximately 60 g per kWh. The same reaction is carried out by lightning, providing a natural source for converting atmospheric nitrogen to soluble nitrates.[12] N 2 + O 2 โŸถ 2 NO {\displaystyle {\ce {N2 + O2 -> 2NO}}} The hot nitric oxide is cooled and combines with atmospheric oxygen to produce nitrogen dioxide. The time this process takes depends on the concentration of NO in the air. At 1% it takes about 180 seconds and at 6% about 40 seconds to achieve 90% conversion.[13]

If using silicone molds, HDPE or LDPE would be the ones to use. Make sure the plastic used comes from injection sources and not blow moulded sources. Injection type melts more flat. I havent had great success with PP but it might be possible. Do use demoulding agent or oil so the plastic doesn't stick!

Check it out! New coasters fresh from the oven. Materials used are either HDPE bottlecaps or PLA 3d printing scraps. Hello, I am achi, 21 years old, a third year accountancy student from the Philippines. I would like to ask about the machines used in transforming plastic cups into fabric. I would really appreciate your opinion about this matter and hopefully become our partners in making our feasibility study to happen. It would really be significant in minimizing the plastics that are being dumped in the landfills. Thank you so much!! CommunityPlatform ๐Ÿ™
Butte (PP Philippines) 7/15/2023 6:09 AM
PET bottles are made into fiber and that is spun into thread and woven to fabric. PET is the most recycled plastic in the Philippines, and a large percentage is either bought by Coke Philippines at their Gen Trias factory called PETValue, or the Chinese buy it in Valenzuela, shred it, wash it, make it into pellets and send it to China for use in making fabric. The cost to build a polyester fiber production line, just for the polyester alone will be in excess of 10 million pesos for a small production facility. Since PET plastic already has such a large buyers market, I do not deal with it, and instead am focusing on making plastic lumber and developing methods to recycle the flex film plastics that at present have no buyers and I can get for free or nearly free.

Nitrogen dioxide, or NO2, is a gaseous air pollutant composed of nitrogen and oxygen. NO2 forms when fossil fuels such as coal, oil, gas or diesel are burned at high temperatures.

Ben - Precious Plastic Ciledug 8/21/2023 3:24 PM
There's different types of HDPE so your results might vary. If your HDPE is coming from bottlecaps, things tend to flow better. If your HDPE is sourced from blow moulded bottles, it's going to be thicker and a little more difficult to push out. It's hard to say what temperatures to use, you'll see things higher and lower but mostly it depends on the rate of speed you work at and how much material you're using. Higher Temps are faster at melting the plastic but you will risk burning the plastic. But you'll observe this as you're working and just adjust down the temperature accordingly.
3:24 PM
But the bigger question is, what problem are you having exactly?

Hi Hi tried the injection as follows and works fantastic: 1. turn on the injection machine barrel at 165 Celsius and nozzle at 175 celsius 2. Shred only bottle cap HDPE (double shred to make smaller pieces of aprox 2mm) 3. when at temp add the plastic to the injection machine. 4. set a heat gun to preheat the mold 5. 20 minutes on the timer to wait for plastic to melt 6. remove the cap from nozzle 7. attach the mold 8. INJECT!!! 9. hold strong push for 4 solid minutes 10. remove the mold 11. place back the cap on the nozzle. 12. Cool the alu mold in water

Pigment can be added to plastic but it needs to be incorporated, basically mixed with the plastic when the plastic is melted. If you paint the surface and try to extrude it/3d print, then you'll have lots of issues with the paint being contamination.

Let me post a couple links for you. Each has their own problem and you'll have to figure out the settings for your CNC machine. This site has a lot of designs but i dont think it's super useful if there's no input for the thickness of your material. This means the joints might not fit right. https://3axis.co/free-vectors/cnc+bar+stool (edited)

And for other stuff, i have used this one quite a bit. It's helpful for crafting all sorts of stuff, just be sure to get your CNC settings correct. https://www.festi.info/

You'll want a machine that can deliver relatively high feed and speed rates to preclude melting, air evacuation, and O-flute tooling. I'd start with the dimensions of the material you want to confront, then the type of plastic- that will define your minimums. Where are you located? What do you consider "cheap"? (edited)
